Porcelain VeneersPorcelain veneers are a very popular method of correcting and cosmetically enhancing your smile. Veneers can be successfully used to correct any of the following problems:
Have you ever wished you had better looking teeth without all the hassle of braces (orthodontics) or crowns? Porcelain veneers are very thin and bonded on the front of your anterior teeth. Dentists use some of the same techniques to bond plastic resins to correct minor smile imperfections. Porcelain veneers are about 0.3mm to 0.5mm in thickness but are very strong once bonded to your natural teeth. They have a "lifelike" appearance with the strength, beauty, and durability only porcelain restorations can accomplish. Veneers have several advantages over crowns (caps). There is no "dark line" that is sometimes seen with older front caps. They reflect light similar to natural tooth enamel and therefore, have a more translucent appearance giving a natural, aesthetic look. Veneers do not require the extensive re-shaping of tooth structure that caps do, yet, they accomplish a lifelike aesthetic result. How is it done?After a thorough discussion with Dr Michael Finkelstein you are able to establish what can or cannot be done, your first appointment usually involves some minor contouring of the front teeth and taking an impression mould of the teeth. The veneers are tried in, and, if satisfactory, they are bonded in place. The results are instant and spectacular! A follow up visit is scheduled for one week later. Many times we combine a Zoom!® teeth whitening treatment with porcelain veneers to create a perfect and bright smile.
